Caballo Lake State Park is proud to announce that it will be conducting "Courtesy Recreational Boat Safety Inspections" in conjunction with National Boat Safety Week. Inspections will take place in the upper parking lot in route to the boat ramp. Staff will be on site to answer any boating or park questions you may have.

Carp Derby At Heron Lake
A series of Carp Derby contests will be held at Heron Lake this summer. Teams of two will compete for Cash Prizes for the total weight of carp caught. To take part in the contest, you must register between 8 to 9 A.M on the day of the derby at the Ridge Rock parking lot adjacent to the Heron Lake Dam. ($5.00 per person for contest entry in addition to park entry or camping fees) Fishing may take place at either Heron Lake or El Vado Lake, weigh-in will be at the Ridge Rock parking lot between the hours of 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. Carp may be taken by hook only. Final weigh-in at 3 P.M. NO EXCEPTIONS You must be present at the weigh-in to win.

If you are 8 years or older, here is your opportunity to explore a unique musical experience. Local resident Kathleen Galbraith teaches park visitors the basics needed to play the ukulele in just 60 minutes, and best of all, you do not need prior musical experience of any kind. She will provide instruments and simple handouts; all you need is a willingness to try something new!
