Heron Lake State Park


Heron Lake State Park is open daily during regular day use hours. No camping or overnight use. 12/2/2020 - ongoing
In accordance with the Public Health Order, State Parks are open to New Mexico residents only for day-use only. Visitors must present either a valid New Mexico license plate, a New Mexico driver’s license or ID card, a New Mexico vehicle registration, a federal document attesting to residency, or a military ID to be admitted to a State Park. 12/2/2020 - ongoing
Wearing a mask or cloth face covering is mandatory in public settings. Maintain social distance of 6 feet or more while recreating. Keep group size to 5 people or less. Bring hand sanitizer and additional personal protective equipment. 12/2/2020 - ongoing
No group shelter use or large organized activities. All special events are cancelled through the end of the calendar year. 12/2/2020 - ongoing
Heron Lake State Park is open for for Ice Fishing at the Dam Day Use Area. Current conditions meet the minimum requirements for ice fishing. Please follow all recommended safety guidelines for ice fishing. The use of OHV's, ATV's or snowmobiles is strictly prohibited. 1/11/2021 - ongoing
