Heron Lake State Park


STAGE I FIRE RESTRICTIONS: 4/12/2018 - ongoing
Access to the Rio Chama Trail Head staircase remains closed at this time for repairs. Visitors can access the trail by utilizing the BOR access road to the Chama River then to the suspension bridge. We will keep the public informed of any changes. Thank you for your patience ! 4/30/2018 - ongoing
The Willow Creek, Ridgerock and La Laja Campgrounds remain open year-round 4/30/2018 - ongoing
Willow Creek Boat Ramp is now closed due to receding water levels in this area. Sierra Vista and La Laja Boat Ramps are open to vessels of all sizes. 8/2/2018 - ongoing
Heron Lake State Park is open to Ice fishing (and other activities and skating/hockey?) Date: effective February 1st, 2019 Ice thickness/condition: 9 inches and clear Date of last measurement: 2-11-19 ATVs are not allowed on t 2/11/2019 - ongoing

Stage I Fire Restrictions: Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire, charcoal, coal, or wood stove is prohibited except in State Park developed camp and picnic grounds where grills and stoves are provided by the State Park. The use of petroleum-fueled stoves, lanterns or heating devices is allowed, provided such devices meet the fire underwriter's specifications for safety. 8/23/2018 - ongoing
