Heron Lake State Park


Access to the Rio Chama Trail Head staircase remains closed at this time for repairs. Visitors can access the trail by utilizing the BOR access road to the Chama River then to the suspension bridge. We will keep the public informed of any changes. Thank you for your patience ! 4/14/2017 - ongoing
All Boat Ramps are currently open at Heron Lake. 6/23/2017 - ongoing
The Willow Creek, Ridgerock and La Laja Campgrounds remain open year-round 9/15/2017 - ongoing

Little Oso Primitive and Rincon Primitive areas remain under seasonal closure until May 14, 2018 4/10/2018 - 5/14/2018


STAGE I FIRE RESTRICTIONS: Fires, campfires are allowed only in developed campsites or picnic areas where agency-built fire rings or grills are provided for use. Campfires are prohibited at all dispersed camping sites. Items fueled by propane may be used in areas cleared of flammable materials within three feet of the device and have on/off switches. Smoking is allowed only in enclosed vehicles or buildings and developed recreation sites. Fireworks are always prohibited in the State Park. 4/12/2018 - ongoing
