State Park Restrictions


Many of the State Parks are currently under Fire Restrictions. Please check the Park status before you go!


Bluewater Lake (505) 876-2391

Due to the State’s Ban on Mass Public Gatherings, in response to COVID-19, The Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD) is CLOSING all New Mexico State Parks, effective Monday, March 16, 2020. Scheduled Events during this time have also been cancelled or postponed in the interest of Public Safety. The Closures will expire April 9th unless extended. Stage II Fire Restrictions: Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire, charcoal, coal, or wood stove is prohibited. The use of devices fueled solely by liquid petroleum or LPG fuels that can be turned on and off is allowed. Such devices can only be used in an area that is barren or cleared of all overhead and surrounding flammable materials within three (3) feet of the device. Smoking is prohibited, except within an enclosed vehicle or building. 10/19/2019 - ongoing

The use of petroleum-fueled stoves, lanterns or heating devices is allowed, provided such devices meet the fire underwriter's specifications for safety. 8/23/2018 - ongoing

Morphy Lake State Park remains closed due to construction on the DAM and within the park campground. The park will remain closed until work is complete and there is currently no set date to reopen the park. 4/30/2019 - ongoing

The use of ATV/OHV's in the park is prohibited. All vehicle traffic must remain on established roadways. 5/14/2019 - ongoing
