Smoking is prohibited except in enclosed buildings, within vehicles equipped with ash trays, and on paved or surfaced roads, developed recreation sites or an area at least three feet in diameter that is cleared of all flammable material. 3/23/2017 - ongoing

Effective March 10, 2017, Oasis State Park will implement fire restrictions on open fires, charcoal/wood burning and smoking. Vegetation in the area has dried out significantly due to the unseasonable high temperatures, low humidity, and the lack of precipitation, making the restrictions necessary for the safety of our visitors. 3/10/2017 - ongoing
Open fires, charcoal and smoking are prohibited unless the following conditions are met: CAMPFIRES and CHARCOAL/WOOD BURNING are PROHIBITED. An exception is granted where cooking, heating and lighting devices use kerosene, white gas or propane as a fuel in an improved camping area that is cleared of flammable vegetation for at least 30 feet, or has a water source. 3/10/2017 - ongoing
SMOKING IS PROHIBITED except in enclosed RV's or trailers, within vehicles equipped with ashtrays, and on paved or surfaced roads, developed recreation sites, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable material. Sugarite Canyon State Park is now under a fire ban. No wood or charcoal fires are allowed. Gas appliances are allowed. The ban by the Colfax County Fire Marshall issued April 19 also states: "No outside smoking is permitted except within a 3-foot diameter barren area. The use of "exterior" fireplaces, stoves, chimeneas or charcoal briquette barbecues (except for gas-propane stoves and barbecues), and all open flames...are prohibited." 4/20/2017 - ongoing
